School Involvement

There are many ways to get involved at Gatewood.  Volunteers contribute their skills in ways huge and small to help ALL of our students to become independent learners.  Here are some opportunities:

Join the Gatewood PTA

Phil Hutchinson, PTA President 2014-15

Gatewood PTA members are involved in improving the daily school lives of all of the children at Gatewood Elementary.  We work to support the faculty and staff and to build community through regular business meetings, community building events and fundraisers. All PTA board and general meetings are open to anyone interested.

Volunteer at Gatewood

GIVE 5! We request that all parents set a goal of volunteering for Gatewood at least 5 hours throughout the school year.  When you see an activity that you would like to help with, please contact the committee chair or your child's teacher.

Some of the volunteer opportunities include:  Being a GatorAide for your student's team/classroom, helping tutor reading, chaperoning a field trip, helping in the classroom, leading or participating in a PTA community builder or fundraiser.

Help with a Gatewood Community Building Event

Gatewood holds many events throughout the year to build community, such as the Family Fun Fair, Multi-Cultural Nights, Science Fair Event, Math Madness Night.  Help is always needed to make these events run smoothly.
